These are some of the most often asked questions in our email and phone conversations.  Please review them before your call or write.

Q: How much do your Labrador retriever puppies cost?

A:  The usual rates for our puppies is $1,000—$1,500.  All of the recent puppies have sold for $1,000.

Q:  How can I be sure I am getting a healthy puppy?

A:  All our Labrador Retriever Puppies carry a guarantee against hereditary defects and to have basic retrieving instincts. Parents of all our Labrador Retriever puppies are physically sound with certified hips and eyes.  They are out of the top working Labrador Retriever bloodlines in the country.  Every one of the more than 8,000 Labrador retrievers that we have bred, trained and sold to our clients came with our Second-To-None Puppy Guarantee.  That is a guarantee you won’t get from a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. Read what our clients have to say about our dogs.

Q:  Do you breed American and/or English Labrador retrievers?

A:  While both breeds are wonderful dogs, we specialize in breeding the American Labrador retriever.  We select from the most dominant American field bloodlines and breed for natural hunting instinct and tractability.  Our Labs, both puppies and adults, are out of the top working Labrador Retriever bloodlines in the country.  The end results are the most talented, well rounded Labrador Retrievers possible, making them a most desirable family pet.

Q:  I noticed that you are located in North Carolina.  Do I have to pick up my puppy at your kennel or are you able to ship my dog?

Recent Labrador retriever deliveries

A:  We consider ourselves to be a national breeder.  We have clients and dogs in more than forty (40) states.  We encourage all of our clients to visit our state-of-the-art breeding and training facilities here at Twin Lakes Kennel.  We’d love to meet you and get acquainted with you.  But, if you cannot visit, we do have an arrangement with a major air carrier to transport our puppies to any city in the country, including Alaska.  We have had no problems or complaints from our clients who have chosen this delivery method.  We do NOT ship to Hawaii, due to the cost and delays caused by that state’s quarantine policies.

Q:  I want to reserve one of the puppies from an upcoming litter.  How does the puppy reserve work and how much of a deposit do you require?

A:  Our puppy reservation program works on a first-come, first-served basis.  Our minimum reservation deposit is $400, but you can pay as much as you like.  For example, you can pay $400 to initiate your reservation; then, 30-45 days later, you can pay another $300 with the remainder due when you claim you puppy.  Since we cannot know how many puppies will be in any given litter, occasionally we over-reserve a litter.  If that happens, we move you to the top of the reservation list for the very next litter.  We can, if you prefer, refund your deposit.

Q:  I am interested in an older dog, one that has grown out of the puppy stage, with some basic training.  Do you have older dogs for sale and how much are they?

A:  Yes, we do have Started dogs; older, trained dogs ready for your commands.  We constantly work with our dogs to develop and maintain their obedience skills.  Started dogs begin at $1,500, depending on the depth of their training.

Q:  We are very interested in a new puppy, but don’t have the time to train one.  Do you offer basic training for puppies and how much would that cost?

A:  Yes, we are more than happy to provide basic obedience training for the home for your new puppy.  The process can take up to six months.  The fees begin at $750 and up, depending on the depth of the training you desire.
